Today my beloved Deirdre gets her own radio station ... I can think of no finer tribute than to make her work and passions available for all to hear, on infinite random loop, hopefully until the end of time. I picture even some distant outer space civilizations might be listening in, she would love that!
I'm sharing here some personal artifacts that I treasure to give you a little window into the person she was. Anything with her handwriting on it is so precious to me because it somehow sums up her personality perfectly. She was always giving me things to read, to listen to, to look at, she was the best 'big sister' in the world! I was beyond lucky to be in her orbit, and she changed the course of my life profoundly.
I cannot being to express my gratitude to Myke Dodge for his literally tireless efforts bringing this project to life and to Bob Carlson for his vision and devotion to the cause, and of course to the lovely Anne Litt for being the godmother of it all.
All the details of the 24-hour stream and the archives, restored from Deirdre's original board tapes, are here: https://www.kcrw.com/music/articles/bent-by-nature-deirdre-o-donoghue-snap-indie-performance-archives
PS For those of you that know your SNAP/KCRW history, I long ago made my peace with KCRW being the owner of these archives - Deirdre's issues with the station were primarily with Ruth, who has long since departed. KCRW has done such a stellar job of paying tribute to SNAP that I'm sure even Deirdre would bury all old grudges by now.
